Responding to inquiries relating to the article titled: June 12; Charting the Future By Knowing The Past: Abiola Sacrificed Himself To Save Nigerians From The Monster of Unitarian Unleashed by the Class of ‘66”, link here: https://ninasmovementnews.substack.com/p/june-12-charting-the-future-from, Tony Nnadi of NINAS wrote as follows:
“The information contained in the article is that of an eye-witness and a participant in the epic events of the time, relating to the real but unspoken reason Abiola’s Electoral Mandate was truncated and why Abiola was killed.
For the avoidance of doubt, every enlightened person of that era knew about Abiola’s involvement with the Military Helmsmen of the years leading to the June 12, 1993 Election, in the line of businesses which like every other thing of that era, lacked transparency in a manner that could be properly described as corruption. He even sponsored some of the Coups in that era.
However, the information that is critical to the current travails of Nigeria is that Abiola in the midst of the struggles for the restoration of his mandate, recognized that the foundation of the Problem dragging Nigeria down was the Unitary Constitutional Arrangements imposed by the Military, particularly the Murtala-Obasanjo Junta which imposed the 1979 Unitary Constitution, in radical departure from the Federal Basis of Nigeria and so Abiola, at a Meeting with a stakeholder-group, including some freshly Retired Military Generals, mid-1994, committed solemnly to taking down and dismantling the Unitary Constitutional imposition on the Distressed Federation of Nigeria as his first act in office, if his mandate was restored, as he reasoned that his Electoral Promise to banish Poverty cannot materialize under a Unitary Constitution that confiscates practically all key Economic Assets and Developmental Powers by way of Federal Exclusive Legislative List into the hands of a totally unaccountable “Federal Government”.
It was that Mid-1994 Meeting that birthed the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), which became the coordinating force for pursuing the restoration of Abiola’s Mandate and the Restoration of Democracy.
Amongst all the other difficulties and obstacles that turned up against Abiola, it was that irrevocable commitment by Abiola, to dismantle the Unitary Constitutional Order and to Restore the Federal Structure that became the reason for the heavy resistance from the Caliphate North to having Abiola as President of Nigeria, and this was central to why Abiola’s life was terminated in Detention.
Now that Nigeria has come to grief and ruins over the Unitary Constitutional Foundation upon which it has constructed its Union and its “Democracy”, it has become necessary to move decisively to addressing that Foundational Constitutional Anomaly, in order to extricate and rescue Nigeria and Nigerians from the Death-Grip and Stranglehold of the prevailing Unitary Constitutional Order, just as South Africa did in 1990 to extricate and ease itself out of the Apartheid bind.
That is the Task NINAS is leading and the Babangida outlandish book launch is now forcing discussions on the damage done to the Nigerian Union by the notorious Military Class of 1966 which by Decrees made between 1966 and 1999, imposed the Unworkable Unitary Constitutional Arrangement that has plunged Nigeria into the current multidimensional failure, chaos, and dysfunction while Nigerians reel in misery and trauma. Let it be noted that NADECO begat PRONACO. PRONACO begat MNN. MNN begat NINAS and so those who cherish the Sacrifices and Memory of Chief Moshood Abiola must join that Task of Decommissioning Nigeria’s Unitary Constitutional Order as outlined and being executed by NINAS.
It will be of benefit to review the article and the accompanying Class of ‘66 Video clip – https://youtu.be/-baFHRAjPA4.
We must now strive to banish the ignorance that hitherto characterized previous efforts to solve the Nigerian Question.
February 20, 2025, the obscene Booklaunch of Ibrahim Babangida was an assemblage of the men who plunged Nigeria into Darkness and who have held Nigeria Hostage at Gunpoint for 59 Years since 1966 with the imposition of the Monster being operated as the Unitary Constitutional Order.
That gathering must become the Valedictory Session for the Class of ‘66 and a Requiem for the 1979/1999 Constitution it Imposed.
The 2022 NINAS Rejoinder to Nigeria’s Military Class of 1966 (via the video message above), provides some insight and will explain why the Victims of Unitary Nigeria will be on a Head-On-Collision with the Enforcers of Unitary Nigeria who are planning to go to another round of National Elections in 2027 under the Death-Dispensing 1999 Constitution.
The debt Nigerians who now live in misery owe the MKO Abiola who sought to Liberate them from Poverty through the Hope ‘93 Campaign which had the byline – “Farewell To Poverty” to complete Abiola’s Unfinished Task of Decommissioning the Death-Dispensing Unitary Constitutional Imposition wrought by the Class of ‘66, and Return Nigeria to its Federal Basis, for which Abiola laid down his life. Anything less will be a grand betrayal of Abiola’s Supreme Sacrifice and an invitation to the Disorderly Demise of the Distressed Federation of Nigeria”.
