(Being the response of NINAS Secretariat to those advocating Electoral Reforms as part of an ill-advised Mobilization towards another round of National Elections in 2027 under the 1999 Constitution).
- It is tragic that in place of going after the Unitary Constitution that foists an Unworkable System on Nigeria, (including Nigeria’s atrocious Electoral System), some of us are speaking about Electoral Reforms under that same Constitution, knowing fully well that such Elections will leave the Death-Dispensing 1999 Constitution intact.
- Considering the fact that most of us have been engaged with the Truth of what the problems are with the Nigerian Union (Nigeria’s unworkable Unitary Constitution) and therefore what the solutions should be (wholesale Decommissioning of the 1999 Constitution and Reconstruction of the Unitary Constitutional Arrangement that it codifies), it is difficult to fathom what the reasons could be, for anyone who knows about this Grave Foundational Anomaly, to choose to throw up other unviable solutions (like Elections in 2023 for New Leadership under the 1999 Constitution, or Electoral Reforms in preparation for 2027 also under the 1999 Constitution) that will thrust these proponents of further National Elections and Electoral Reforms into the driving seat of Electoral Journeys to nowhere under a Constitution that guarantees the very Damnation we lament ever so often. Self-Deceit, to say the least.
- Let it be known to all of those mobilizing towards another round of National Elections in 2027 under the 1999 Constitution that NINAS will be mobilizing the Victims of Unitary Nigeria to Shut Down the Voyage to another round of National Elections under the 1999 Constitution, and to demand in place of Elections, the Initiation of an Immediate Transitioning Process for the Constitutional Reconstruction of Nigeria, like South Africa did 1990 to ease itself out of the Apartheid Bind.
- Is it not tantamount to grand hypocrisy for those who lament the Woeful Failures of Nigeria and the unspeakable Miseries of Nigerians, to also cling tenaciously to the Unitary Constitution of Nigeria, (1999) which is directly responsible for those Failures and Miseries?
